Wet Chemical Fire Extinguisher Identification Sign

This wet chemical extinguisher sign identifies a Class F unit and the fires it covers. AS 2444-2001 requires an identification sign above every portable extinguisher on site. Anyone approaching should be able to read the type before they lift the unit off the bracket. The sign uses rigid polypropylene and measures 90 mm square.

Where the sign mounts

AS 2444 sets two heights for the extinguisher itself. The base clears the floor by at least 100 mm. The top of the carrying handle sits no higher than 1200 mm.The identification sign goes above the unit, at roughly 2 to 2.5 metres. That height keeps it readable across a room. It also keeps it clear of benches, trolleys and stacked stock.Two signs do two different jobs. A location sign marks where the equipment sits from a distance. This identification sign tells the person standing in front of it what agent is inside.

What Class F means on your floor

Class F fires involve cooking oils and animal fats. Hot oil holds heat long after the flame drops.
