Description

One button. Press it and every responder on the system knows someone needs medical help, and where they are.The ORI-32 connects over radio frequency. Each unit forms part of a mesh network with the devices around it, so you don't need repeaters and you don't need cabling. Orisent puts the range of each unit at roughly 400 metres to 1 kilometre, depending on what's between them.

Specifications

  • Single CALL button, usable by anyone on site

A Touchscreen Control Unit is required to manage a mesh radio frequency nurse call system.

The confirmation light does more work than it looks like

Press the button, the alert goes to the TCU, and a signal comes back to activate a light on the trigger you pressed. That closes the loop for the person standing over the casualty.Without it they're guessing. Did that work? Should I press it again? Do I leave and go find someone? Every one of those decisions costs time, and the second one floods the system with duplicate alerts. The light answers the question before it gets asked.

How a nurse call alert runs

  • A worker presses the trigger
  • The alert reaches the TCU, and the app if you're subscribed
  • The alert names the device location, so responders know where to go
  • Nominated responders accept or decline
  • Whoever accepts cancels the alert and logs a report afterwards
  • The system logs the whole sequence with timestamps
That last step is the part sites usually skip and later wish they hadn't. The log tells you response times, which triggers get used, and whether your responder roster actually covers the shifts you thought it did.

Placing triggers within range

Radio frequency needs line of sight more than distance. Thick walls, concrete floors and dense stored material all cut range. The 400m to 1km figure assumes a reasonably open path.Walk the route before you commit to positions. Two devices 200 metres apart through three concrete slabs may not hold a link that two devices 700 metres apart across an open yard hold easily. Where the layout defeats radio frequency, the cellular version sidesteps the problem entirely.

The obligation behind it

Regulation 43 of the model WHS Regulations requires your emergency plan to provide for medical treatment and assistance, and for effective communication between the person coordinating the response and everyone at the workplace. A first aid kit satisfies neither on its own. Someone has to be able to summon help and know it arrived.Send us a site layout with your work zones marked and we'll confirm whether radio frequency holds across the distances involved. Call 1800 273 473 or email the layout.
