Klaxon Super M Siren

Klaxon Super M Siren

The Klaxon Super M is a motor driven siren rated at 127 dB. It suits large sites with high background noise. It arrives pre-wired with 1 metre of cable and a separate surface mounting bracket. The enclosure carries an IP21A rating.

Check the enclosure rating against the position

IP21 is not a weatherproof rating. It protects against dripping water and large solid objects, nothing more. That makes the Super M a unit for covered positions. Plant buildings, workshops, covered walkways and sheltered gantries all qualify. For an exposed external position, the IP65 rated Klaxon Duplo is the correct unit. Getting this wrong is the most common ordering error on industrial sirens. It shows up eighteen months later, not on day one.

Motor driven output

A motor driven siren moves air with a spinning rotor. The tone carries across distance and through obstruction. An electronic sounder at the same nominal rating does not. That is the reason it earns its place on a crushing circuit or a manufacturing floor.

Plan the mounting against the noise standard

Safe Work Australia sets the noise exposure standard at 85 decibels averaged over an eight hour day. The ceiling is 140 decibels at any instant. Mount the siren high and away from fixed work positions. Cover a large site with several units rather than one close one.

Where it goes

Mining, manufacturing plants, quarries, waste management centres and remote accommodation camps. Where a cable run is the constraint, our wireless alarm systems reach the same coverage without trenching.

Installation

The pre-wired tail and separate bracket make the mechanical fix straightforward. The electrical connection is an electrician's work. Pricing is quoted per project.
