Klaxon Duplo IP65 Siren

Klaxon Duplo IP65 Siren

The Klaxon Duplo is a motor driven evacuation siren rated at 127 dB with an IP65 enclosure. It works indoors and outdoors, and it is built for sites where a standard electronic sounder disappears under plant noise.

Motor driven, not electronic

A motor driven siren spins a rotor to move air. That produces a rising and falling tone with real acoustic energy behind it. A speaker only reproduces a tone. The practical difference shows up across distance and through obstruction. On a quarry bench, a crushing circuit or an open manufacturing floor, an electronic sounder at the same nominal rating loses to background noise first.

Position it against the noise exposure standard

127 dB is loud enough to matter, and loud enough to plan for. Safe Work Australia sets the exposure standard at 85 decibels averaged over an eight hour day. The hard ceiling is 140 decibels at any instant.Mount the siren so no work position sits close enough to approach those limits during a test or an activation. That usually means high mounting, well away from fixed workstations. Cover the area with several units rather than one close one. We will walk the coverage with you if the site is complex.

Where it goes

Mining, manufacturing plants, quarries, waste facilities and remote accommodation camps. Anywhere the alarm has to beat the plant.

Wiring and kit

The Duplo requires wiring. A full kit is available if you want the siren, mounting and control supplied together. On a construction site where trenching a cable run is the problem, a wireless alarm system answers faster. We supply both and we will tell you which one fits the programme.
