Description

Icom IC-41PRO 2-way Handheld UHF CB Radio

The Icom IC-41PRO UHF CB radio puts 5 watts of transmit power across all 80 Australian UHF CB channels. It is dust-tight to IP67 and weighs 270 grams with the battery fitted. The handset sits between a consumer walkie-talkie and a licensed commercial network. That makes it the practical choice for construction sites, traffic control, warehousing, events and facility teams. It is one of six options in our Security and Communications range.

No licence application, no annual fee

UHF CB operation is authorised under the Citizen Band Radio Stations class licence administered by the ACMA. Nobody applies for a class licence and nobody pays a fee for it. A set of IC-41PRO handsets can go into service the day it arrives. A licensed commercial system needs an apparatus licence and an assigned frequency before it transmits legally. That distinction matters on short-lead projects and on sites that scale up and down. You buy the radios once and redeploy them on the next job.

Why site managers specify radios over phones

Regulation 43 of the model WHS Regulations requires an emergency plan. That plan must provide for effective communication between the person coordinating the emergency response and everyone at the workplace. Safe Work Australia sets out the full emergency plan duties for a PCBU. A mobile phone fails that test in a basement car park, a lift shaft or a steel-framed structure. UHF CB runs independently of any carrier network. One press of the transmit key reaches every handset on the channel at once.

Built for the conditions it will meet

The IP67 rating means complete protection against dust ingress and submersion in one metre of water for 30 minutes. Icom pressure tests the radio against the MIL-STD-810G environmental test methods. Those methods cover rain, salt fog, dust, vibration, shock and thermal extremes. The operating range runs from minus 30 to plus 60 degrees Celsius. A Canberra winter start and a Pilbara afternoon both sit inside specification. At 52.2 by 111.8 by 30.3 millimetres, the handset clips to a belt and stays there through a shift.

Channels, power and programming

The radio holds 128 channels. It ships programmed with the 80 narrowband UHF CB channels between 476.4250 and 477.4125 MHz. A dealer can add up to 35 receive-only channels for monitoring site or traffic frequencies. Transmit power switches between 5 watts for range and 1 watt to conserve battery on close work.Private channels between 450 and 520 MHz are available to commercial users as a dealer-programmed option. Operating on those frequencies requires an ACMA apparatus licence. We arrange that licence as part of a fleet supply. Tell us before you order if private channels are part of the plan, because programming happens before dispatch.

Battery life across a full shift

The supplied BP-280 lithium-ion pack delivers 18 hours of typical operation. Icom measures that figure at a transmit, receive and standby ratio of 5:5:90 with power save on. It covers a 12-hour shift with margin. Auto power-off and battery save extend it further on light-use days.

Audio that carries over plant noise

The internal speaker produces 1500 milliwatts of audio. That is the difference between hearing a call beside a concrete saw and missing it. Voice announcement reads the channel number aloud, so an operator changes channels without looking at the screen. Built-in CTCSS and DCS give silent standby, so a handset only opens for the group it belongs to. SELCALL, duplex repeater access, and open, group and priority scan are included.

Supplied with every handset

Every IC-41PRO ships with the BP-280 battery pack, BC-213 desktop charger, BC-123SV AC adapter, MB-133 belt clip and FA-SC72U antenna. Speaker microphones, headsets, security earpieces, multi-bay chargers, spare antennas and spare batteries are available to order. The handset comes in black, orange and red, which helps when several crews share one site.If you need digital channels, encryption or deeper water resistance, the Entel DX485U-CB UHF two-way radio offers 256-channel capacity, DMR digital capability and an IP68 submersible rating.Order online, or call 1800 273 473 to work through fleet quantities, channel programming, accessories and hire terms before you commit.
