Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Cabinet

This standard AED cabinet wall mounts an automated external defibrillator where people can see it and reach it. The shell is sheet steel with a powder coated finish. The door hinges, latches and carries a clear viewing window with AED labelling.

Why a cabinet rather than a cupboard

The Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice for first aid sets three conditions on an AED. It should sit somewhere clearly visible and accessible. It should stay clear of temperature extremes. It needs clear signage and maintenance to the manufacturer's specification.A defibrillator in a locked office drawer meets none of that. In a cardiac arrest, a bystander often fetches the unit. Nobody has shown that person where it lives. Visibility does the work that training cannot.The viewing window lets a responder confirm the unit is present from across the room. A supervisor confirms the same thing on a walk-around without opening anything.

What the shell does

Sheet steel and a closed door protect the device from knocks, drops, dust, dirt and moisture. An AED on an open bracket in a workshop or warehouse collects all five.A visual instruction sign inside the door gives step-by-step guidance to whoever opens it. The lockable latch deters interference without slowing a genuine response.

Where an AED belongs

SafeWork NSW points to three triggers. A risk of electrocution to workers, a likely delay in ambulance arrival, or large numbers of the public on site. Switchrooms, electrical contracting, remote and regional operations, shopping centres, gyms, schools and hospitality all sit in that group.
