Fire Extinguisher Wall Bracket – Medium

Fire Extinguisher Wall Bracket - Medium

This fire extinguisher wall bracket holds most 2.5 kg to 4.5 kg portable units. Heavy gauge pressed steel takes knocks in a corridor or plant room. The red powder coat keeps the mounting point visible against a painted wall.

Mounting to AS 2444

The bracket is what makes a compliant install possible. AS 2444-2001 sets two dimensions an auditor will measure:

• The base of the extinguisher at least 100 mm clear of the floor
• The top of the carrying handle no higher than 1200 mm

Fix the bracket so the loaded unit lands inside that window. Set it too low and the extinguisher sits in the wash and mop line. Set it too high and a shorter operator cannot lift a 4.5 kg unit off the hook cleanly. An identification sign goes above the bracket at roughly 2 to 2.5 metres, so the type reads on approach.

Why extinguishers should not sit on the floor

A floor-standing extinguisher gets kicked, moved during a clean, buried behind stock and knocked over. Once it leaves its position, the travel distance on your fire plan no longer holds. AS 2444 allows a maximum of 15 metres from any point on the floor to the nearest Class A unit. You measure that along the path a person walks, not through walls. A bracket is what keeps the number true between service visits. Standards Australia publishes the full text of AS 2444-2001.
