SKU: ORI-55 Category: Brand:

Description

The ORI-55 is a wireless evacuation trigger. Press it once and every paired siren on the network sounds. Indicator lights confirm the signal went out, so the person who pressed it isn't left wondering. It communicates over an internal radio frequency chip, which means no cabling between the trigger and the sirens it controls. That's the whole point. A trigger costs you a mounting position rather than a cable run.

Where to mount evacuation triggers

Put triggers where people already go, not where they're tidy on a drawing. Exits, stairwell landings, crib rooms, the site office, next to fire equipment. A trigger someone has to walk past three obstacles to reach is a trigger nobody uses. The test is simple. From anywhere a person works, can they reach a trigger fast, in the dark, carrying something? If not, add one.Regulation 43 of the model WHS Regulations requires your emergency plan to cover effective response and evacuation procedures. Trigger placement is where that plan meets the building. Get it wrong and the plan reads well but doesn't work.

Preventing false evacuations

False alarms are expensive and they train people to ignore the siren. Both problems compound.Authority protocols address this. With the protocol enabled, pressing a trigger raises an alert for approval rather than sounding the whole site immediately. A nominated person confirms it. On large sites with subcontractors coming and going, this is usually worth the extra step.Approval requires a Touchscreen Control Unit or the smartphone app. A trigger and siren running standalone can't authorise a partial evacuation.

What a standalone system gives you

We ship triggers and sirens already connected. You pick locations and power them up.A standalone setup will not:
  • Report the status of each device, including connectivity or power
  • Record system activity such as tests or activations
  • Let you monitor the system remotely
  • Let you authorise a full or partial site evacuation
That suits sites retrofitting a system on a budget, or anyone wanting something that runs without management, provided the devices stay powered. Where you need testing records for an audit, add a TCU.

Testing your triggers

Regulation 43 requires testing of the emergency procedures, including the frequency of that testing. Testing the plan means testing the hardware in it.Test each trigger individually rather than assuming one working trigger proves the rest. A trigger that has drifted out of range, lost power, or been knocked during works fails silently. Nothing tells you until the day it matters, unless you check it or the TCU checks it for you.Tell us how many triggers your site layout needs and whether you want approval protocols enabled. We'll configure the system before it ships. Call 1800 273 473 or send through your site details.
