Description

Cygnus SiteProtect Emergency Assembly Area Beacon CYGFAP01

The CYGFAP01 emergency assembly point beacon sits at your muster point and flashes when the alarm is raised. It carries a high intensity LED strobe and no siren, because the assembly area is where people are heading rather than where they need warning. The unit runs on a single battery pack with at least 12 months life and sits in an IP65 enclosure for outdoor mounting.

Why the muster point needs a light

Evacuations rarely happen in good conditions. Smoke, dust, rain, early starts and late finishes all reduce how far people can see, and a printed sign on a fence gives you nothing once the light goes. A flashing beacon gives people something to walk towards from across the site, which matters most for subcontractors and delivery drivers who haven't walked the muster route before.

Getting the headcount to work

Assembly points only do their job if everyone arrives at the same one. Sites with several trades and a shifting workforce tend to accumulate informal muster spots, which leaves your wardens counting people across three locations and reporting an incomplete roll to the fire service. A beacon that only lights at the official assembly area removes the ambiguity about which one is current.

No siren, by design

The beacon carries no sounder. Adding one at the assembly area would compete with the wardens giving instructions and make the roll call harder to run. If you need a call point at the assembly area so someone can raise the alarm from there, the beacon with call point covers that. The full Cygnus SiteProtect range sets out which devices sound and which don't.

Your emergency plan obligations

Regulation 43 of the model WHS Regulations requires you to prepare, maintain and implement an emergency plan for your workplace. Safe Work Australia's guidance on emergency plans requires the plan to cover evacuation procedures and requires you to test those procedures at a stated frequency. Running a drill is where you find out whether people can locate the assembly point without being led there.Call 1800 273 473 or email sales@checkpointgroup.com.au and we'll look at your muster point locations against your site access routes.
