Emergency Exit Light – Recessed Blade Style – Black

Recessed Emergency Exit Light - Blade Style, Black

This recessed blade exit light sits flush in the ceiling, with only the blade visible below the plane. The black body suits a dark ceiling, exposed services, or a fitout where a white box reads as an afterthought. The housing measures 430 mm long, 100 mm wide and 195 mm high.

Retrofit without a rewire

The unit ships with a flex cable and plug. Where a socket already sits in the ceiling void, no electrician is needed to make the connection. That shortens a tenancy changeover.A conversion plate covers competitor footprints. You replace an aged fitting without patching, skimming and repainting the ceiling around it. On a like-for-like swap, that patching is usually the expensive part.

The compliance numbers still apply

A design choice does not relax the standard. This fitting carries a 24 metre viewing distance. It runs 3 hours in emergency mode against the 90 minute minimum in AS/NZS 2293. Mount it between 2.0 and 2.7 metres above floor level.Black bodies raise one practical point. The running man pictogram still has to stand out on approach. Check sightlines and ambient contrast at design stage, not after the ceiling closes.Three UV rated decals come in the box: standard running man, running man with left arrow, and running man with right arrow.

Specification and service

The LED source runs to 50,000 hours. The battery is lithium. The IP rating is IP20, so this fitting goes indoors only. For external positions, use the weatherproof exit light instead. This is a maintained fitting. It stays lit on the normal lighting circuit, and the emergency module takes over on mains failure.AS/NZS 2293.2 calls for a monthly visual check and a six-monthly 90 minute discharge test, both logged, and SafeWork NSW expects a competent person to perform them. Confirm test access on recessed fittings before the ceiling grid closes.
