Cygnus SiteProtect PIR Motion Sensor

The Cygnus PIR motion sensor fits to any Cygnus device on the network. Once you arm the system, the sensor detects movement and sends an intruder alert to the control panel. The alarm devices you fitted for fire and first aid then double as intruder detection outside work hours, using the same mesh network and the same panel.

Arming changes what the devices do

During work hours the PIR sits idle, because a site full of people moving around would trip it constantly. You arm the system when the site closes. From that point, movement in a covered area registers as an intruder alert on the panel rather than a fire or first aid event. Disarm in the morning and the devices go back to their normal role.

Sound the sirens or say nothing

Two configurations, and the right one depends on what you're protecting. Sirens and strobes on detection make the site loud and visible, which pushes an opportunist off the property before they take anything. A silent activation sends the alert without warning the intruder, which suits sites where you'd rather your security contractor or the police arrive while the person is still there. We set the response during programming, and you can run different responses in different zones.

The alert has to reach someone

A PIR that reports to an unattended panel achieves nothing overnight. Pair the sensors with the CYG14-SMS control panel so activations text your after-hours contacts. Fitting PIR to your smoke and heat detectors covers fire and intruder from one mounting position in the huts and containers.
