What is a nurse call system?

A nurse call system is a vital tool during medical emergencies, providing a quick and efficient way to alert a team when help is needed, ensuring a coordinated response in line with your organization’s safety protocols.Checkpoint offers innovative nurse call triggers and sirens that address common installation and usage challenges. Our systems are simple to install, manage, and maintain, requiring no specialised personnel—your in-house team can handle everything. Each nurse call unit uses mesh radio frequency (RF) technology to wirelessly connect with the entire system via an internal RF module. The system operates on a long-range wireless network with a dedicated RF frequency. Each station has a range up to 1km, depending on site obstructions.Unlike traditional systems, this nurse call system does not require repeaters to establish connectivity. Each device only needs to be within range of another, allowing for flexible configuration and increased reliability. However, thick walls or floors may impact connectivity. A Control Unit is recommended to manage the system, with optional modules that allow you to receive texts and radio notifications available for added flexibility.Whether you're seeking nurse call solutions for construction sites, healthcare and aged care facilities, our systems offer:
  • Easy installation – no specialised skills required
  • Quick setup – integrated into the network, positioned, named, and monitored within minutes
  • Retrofitting capability – no hardwiring necessary
  • Real-time updates – manage power and connectivity status of individual stations
  • Simple triggers – single-button alerts and cancellations
  • Optional SMS and Radio Modules – for direct alerts and SMS notifications

How Does the Cygnus Nurse Call System Work?

What happens when a First Aid Alert is Raised?
  • An Intermittent audible alarm sounds at the Originating Alarm Unit
  • Intermittent audible signals sound at all other Alarm Units on site
  • The event is reported to the Control Panel. The Control Panel sounds its buzzer and flashes the LED Above the First Aid Button.
This can be customised to silent or only have 1x unit activating if required.
