Cygnus SiteProtect Evacuation/Fire Call Point Alarm CYG24

The CYG24 evacuation call point sounds at 110 dB(A) and carries a high intensity LED strobe. Press it and every alarm device on the network sounds, so the alert reaches the whole site rather than the level it started on. The unit runs on a single battery pack with at least 12 months life, and the IP65 enclosure handles outdoor positions.

Why 110 dB(A) and a strobe together

Plant noise on an active site regularly sits high enough to bury an alarm tone. The strobe covers the workers running tools, wearing hearing protection, or working in a space where the siren doesn't carry. Two signals in different channels means the alert doesn't depend on one set of conditions holding.

Where these units go

Position call points on main escape routes, at stairwells and exit points, near fire points and at temporary services locations. Anywhere someone walking out would pass one, and anywhere someone finding a fire would reach one quickly. Name each unit by its location in software so the panel tells you where the activation came from rather than just that one happened.

Choosing between the 110 dB(A) and 85 dB(A) versions

The CYG24 suits open areas, external positions, and anywhere the ambient noise is high. Confined spaces, site offices and fitted-out areas are better served by the 85 dB(A) call point, which drops the volume and the strobe. If you need first aid alerts from the same device, the combined evacuation and first aid call point adds a second button and a distinct tone. Standalone or networked

The unit works on its own, which matters when a site is small enough not to justify a panel or when you're covering an isolated compound. Adding a control panel gives you the location display, the event log and the drill function. Both configurations use the same device, so a site that starts standalone can add the panel later without replacing the call points.

Your emergency plan obligations

Regulation 43 of the model WHS Regulations requires you to prepare, maintain and implement an emergency plan. Safe Work Australia's guidance on emergency plan duties names a siren or bell alarm as the mechanism for alerting people to an emergency and requires you to plan for people with hearing, vision or mobility impairment.
