Description

CYG14-UHF Cygnus SiteProtect Control Panel

The CYG14-UHF is a CYG14 panel with the radio voice module fitted. When a call point triggers, the panel speaks the incident over your site two-way radio system, naming what happened and where. Everyone already carrying a handheld hears it at the same moment, including the crews who are nowhere near a siren. The module works with digital and analogue radio systems.

Why the voice broadcast changes the response time

On a large site, a call point sounding at the far end of level three tells the people on level three. It doesn't tell the crane crew, the gate, or the site manager in the shed. The radio module takes that same trigger and puts it in the ear of everyone holding a handheld, which means the first aid officer knows the location before anyone runs to find them.

Working with the radios you already run

The module interfaces with your existing site radio system rather than replacing it, and it handles both digital and analogue. If you're specifying radios at the same time, our Motorola and two-way radio range sits under security and communications. The wireless alarm systems page sets out how radio integration compares across the Cygnus and Orisent platforms.

Installation and relocation

The panel arrives pre-programmed. It needs four fixings and mains power, which makes it straightforward to shift as the work front moves or to redeploy on the next project. The mesh network is self-contained, so the panel doesn't depend on site Wi-Fi, mobile coverage or an internet connection to work.

Radio licensing sits with you

Two-way radio use in Australia is regulated by the Australian Communications and Media Authority. Most site UHF CB use runs under a class licence with no individual licence required, while assigned land mobile frequencies need their own authorisation. Confirm your radio system's licensing position before you commission the voice module, because the module broadcasts on whatever channel your radios already use.

Emergency plan obligations

Regulation 43 of the model WHS Regulations requires you to prepare, maintain and implement an emergency plan. Safe Work Australia's guidance on emergency plan duties requires you to plan for people with hearing impairment and to test your procedures at a stated frequency. A voice broadcast layered over sirens and strobes gives you a second channel, and the panel's drill function logs every test with a date against it.Call 1800 273 473 or email sales@checkpointgroup.com.au and tell us what radios you're running, and we'll confirm the module suits them.
