This ceiling mount exit light suspends below the slab where a wall fixing is not available. The housing measures 378 mm long, 160 mm wide and 204 mm high. It carries a 24 metre viewing distance. It runs 3 hours in emergency mode, double the 90 minute minimum under AS/NZS 2293.

Read the viewing distance before you order

The number printed on the sign face is a limit, not a guide. Put a 24 metre sign at the end of a 30 metre corridor and it fails an audit. The sign still works. The distance does not.Measure the longest approach to each exit first, then choose the sign.AS/NZS 2293.1 sets the mounting band at 2.0 to 2.7 metres above floor level. Ceiling fittings hit that band easily in a high space, where a wall bracket would sit too low.

Three decals in the box

The unit ships with three UV rated decals. You get the standard running man, running man with left arrow, and running man with right arrow.Direction gets decided on site, not at the order stage. That helps on fitouts where the egress plan shifts between design and handover. One stock line then covers every orientation in the building.

Housing and light source

The body carries plastic particles through the material rather than a surface coat. The white finish holds instead of yellowing under UV. The material resists fire.The LED source runs to 50,000 hours. The battery is lithium.This is a maintained fitting. It stays lit on the normal lighting circuit, and the emergency module takes over when mains power drops.

Servicing

AS/NZS 2293.2 calls for a monthly visual check and a six-monthly 90 minute discharge test. Both need recording. SafeWork NSW puts that duty on the PCBU, and expects a competent person to carry it out. Easy access to the test facility keeps the routine quick across a large site.
