ABE (Powder) Fire Extinguisher Identification Sticker

This ABE fire extinguisher sticker identifies a dry chemical powder unit and the three fire classes it covers. The sticker uses self-adhesive vinyl and measures 190 mm square. Vinyl suits a smooth surface where a rigid sign has nothing to screw into.

Vinyl or rigid sign

Both carry the same artwork. The surface decides which one you order.Vinyl goes onto glass, painted steel columns, cabinet doors, plant and equipment, laminated panels and vehicle bodies. A rigid polypropylene sign suits masonry, plasterboard and open framing, where a fixing gives no trouble. Both formats sit in our accessories, parts and signage range.At 190 mm square the sticker reads from well back down an aisle. That matters in a warehouse or plant room where the extinguisher sits between racking.

What ABE covers

ABE dry chemical powder is the general-purpose unit on most Australian sites. It covers three fire classes:

• Class A: timber, paper, packaging, textiles and general combustible waste
• Class B: flammable and combustible liquids such as fuels, solvents and oils
• Class E: energised electrical equipment, including switchboards and plant under power

ABE leaves a powder residue. CO2 is often the better first choice around clean electrical equipment and server rooms. That trade-off is a selection decision, not a signage one.

Why the sign is not optional

AS 2444-2001 requires an identification sign above every portable extinguisher. Anyone approaching should be able to read the type and its fire classes. An extinguisher nobody can identify in the first ten seconds of an incident is an extinguisher nobody uses correctly. Manufacture of the extinguisher itself sits under the ACCC mandatory standard for portable non-aerosol extinguishers.Order in quantity for a full site changeover, or add single units to a service round.
