This recessed fire extinguisher cabinet mounts flush into a stud or masonry wall and houses a single 4.5kg portable extinguisher. The flange covers the cut edge of the opening. The installer works to a normal wall tolerance rather than a millimetre one.The body is coated steel with a red finish. A full length piano hinge carries the door. The latch locks with the key held behind break glass. A 003 keyed lock is available where a site prefers keyed access.A clear window in the door lets a technician sight the gauge and the tamper seal without opening the cabinet. That shortens each stop on an AS 1851 routine service round.The enclosure keeps dust, water and direct sunlight off the cylinder and the label. Grinding dust, paint overspray and coastal exposure destroy extinguisher labels first, and an unreadable label fails a service inspection.Fire and Rescue NSW states that each extinguisher sits on a support bracket or in a cabinet with the front of the extinguisher facing outwards. This cabinet meets that arrangement. Recessing then takes the unit out of the approach sightline, so fit a compliant identification sign above the door.
